Postby richard armstrong » August 14th, 2014, 12:15 pm

hi all

looking for advice on making an exhaust for a 26cc engine side mounted pits style exhaust? i have a tight space to work with hence make it yourself, off the shelf pitts exhaust would do but i cannot find a side mount exhaust to fit the engine no choice but to make it

the original exhaust is a piece of dog poo,

i have paid £10 for some 50mm, and 19mm 16 gauge tube and sheet for end-plates, to make a barrel type exhaust i intend to use aluminium solder rods, but was thinking about silver solder?????

advice here please !

Richard,a lot of shops, such as the pound shops etc, sell a range of stainless steel salt and pepper pots. This will give you a ready made canister, which can be silver soldered with pipe and the like. You will have to fill the letters P and S (usually perforated in the lid),with silver solder.Go to your local Wilkinsons or such like with a tape measure and also check the weight before buying, some are very heavy.

Best of luck Barrie B

Use the 'silencer' you've already got as a header, then a bit of pipe to one of these...
