Lipo's

Yesterday I purchased two new Turningy 2.200mah. 3cell 11.1v. Lipo's with XT60 connectors, today I changed the connectors to Deans as I have done many times before, but now when I try to charge them my Overlander charger keeps showing " connection break ", I have re.soldered thinking perhaps I may have a dry joint but still have not resolved the problem. I have connected a older battery and that has charged O.K. so nothing wrong with the charger. Can anyone help please ?

Check with a volt meter that you've actually got a connection at the sockets in the XT60. Check the balance connector pins too just to be sure.

I've taken to leaving the XT60's on & using an adapter to deans if really necessary, as the XT60's do actually seem to be better.

Hi Dave, just a thought, did you check the Lipo before you altered it?

Only that they were charged to 49%

If you checked them on the balance lead then you know that was working. Did you check them on the main leads? There may have been a latent defect that the joint within the battery was faulty from new?

Did not check the main leads but will do this afternoon,

Main leads are showing a voltage of 11.49 with the Deans connector soldered on and also without the Deans connector i.e. just bare wires, and charger is still reporting "connection break" when I connect these batteries, but there is no problem with any other batteries of the same type,
How easy would it be to strip the batteries down and check all the connections ?, with great care of course as I've never attempted to do this before.

Plug it into a model and see if the motor works. If it does, there's no connection break, it must be in the charger / charger lead.
