From seeing you in the picture it is a credit for a young man getting involved with such a project, i have been on the ww11 scene for many years and always love to see new projects. Will you be flying at any shows with it when it"s done? keep up the good work Rob am watching with interest

Thanks for the Kind reply!

I would love to fly her at shows, so yer one day....(that's my aim) I have really enjoyed building the lancaster.

I can't wait to see her lift off for the first time and know i built her from the ground up.

People have said its too much of a project for me, they said the same with the Vulcan but look where she is now :)

I will get some more photos for you to see...

Cheers

Rob

Hi guys....

I am after some advice, once i have fiberglassed the model, what's next? I know about the primer and rubbing back...when do you add panel lines-Rivets...things like that.

Want to plan things, then i know how i am going to do it.

Any help would be ace!!

Thanks

Hi Rob,

Looking good matey, as for the questions regarding finishing, this is how i do it, glass the model, then give a second coat of resin to fill any weave left, then give a light sand. then a light coat of primer to show any imperfections, sort these then i mark panel lines with thin edging tape, then i apply second coat of primer, when the primer has gone tacky but not dry i then remove the edging tape which then leaves a depression imitating the panel line.then i get some brass tube the same dia as you want the head size of your rivet to be the place in soldering iron then dab away leaving the rivet marks in the primer once it has dried. for raised rivets i get a syringe (get them from pharmacy) fill with PVA them `blob`away. when detailing is complete i then if it is to be weathered i spray the weathered area silver then paint the model, then lightly rub back where it is to be weathered simulating the metal structure. etc. many ways of doing this but just my method. i am about to do my B25 next month so will post some pics if you want.

Hope this makes sense??? :?

Thanks for the advice Allan, I am learning as i go along. Phil at fighter aces has given me some advice too, i am starting to piece it all together in my head now..... :geek:

I spent nearly 60hrs after work, and 55hrs of this work will only be seen by myself and Dave..... :( She is starting to come together now tho....

Once again thanks for the advice!!

Hi Rob, she's is looking good, I can’t understand why your parents don’t want you in the living room, they should be encouraging their children to play.

Allan would love to see you do a build thread on the B25 when you start it especially the part where you do all the detailing and weathering. 8-)

Hi Rob

Are you planning on using those Futaba 3003 servos 'for flying' or are they just for trial fit and building your mounts around?

Still adding strength to the Wing....been working on the Narcels fiber-glassed them all now, the piping is for the cabling and the white cable is for the Lights.....

I have added all the servo trays to each wing.... One for the Ailerons, One for the Inner Flap and one For the Outer flap.

I added the balsa block for the hinges and coated it in sand-in sealer, now they are hard and ready for the hinge.

I have also added some Carbon fiber toes to the narcels...over the top i know but they don't weigh anything and cost penny's...

Have a look at the pics.... :)
