Thanks Phil.
Currently trying to sort out my Bombay doors, working some hinge ideas, but always end up with a gap that I am not happy with.
The pivot on the Lanc is on the edge, which leaves little room.
If anyone has any ideas, it would be appreciated.

Cheers

Craig

I did notice from this picture, a noticeable gap between the Bombay doors and fuselage.
I might be overthinking this, lol.

Here are a few pictures of my Bombay with doors just tacked with two small hinges.

The gap can be filled in from the inside against the door when it is closed to seal the Bombay. It won't be noticeable in flight and the doors will be open when it is on the ground.

Here is a picture of the actual hinge. After further studying the picture, it looks like the outer portion on the Bombay door has a curved filler piece that wraps around which in turn makes for a close fit against the fuselage.
I think I might be able to fill in the gap on the bottom of the door, and sand it so it also rotates with the door.

Hi Craig,

Can you help? I have tried a number of glues, needles and things to make the rivets like yours but to no avail.

Could you share which brand of glue you are using? and if possible the size of needle? It would help so much!

Hope you made contact with Richard! :)

Cheers Rob!

Robert

I have attached a picture of the glue I am using for the rivets, as for the needle size, not sure, it is very small, lol. The glue is fairly thick so your needle needs to be able to pass the glue through it. I have also used in the past, those small glue tips you can buy for hard to reach spots.
I have contacted Richard, and sent a reply email as well, so I will wait and see.
Alan, thanks for the link, I have seen that build, appreciate you passing it on.

Cheers

Great workmanship Craig!

With regards to the gap, what about glueing brass tube of the correct diameter between the fuse and door then cutting a slot to form that c shape just like in the picture of the full size you posted?

I think I have the gap figured out.
Currently the doors I made are a perfect fit, which unfortunately leaves no room for hinges, lol.
So I am taking off, 1/8th of an inch from each door which will give me the clearance needed for my hinges.
The gap will be filled in with balsa, and shaped so it will not affect the operation of the doors, and will also fill the gap.
It will act just like the curved metal shown in the picture.
Will post more as I progress.

Cheers
Craig

A little more progress on the Bombay doors.
Put in some supports along its length to add strength, as well as the front and rear brackets for the linkage.
Still lots of tinkering to be done, but I will get there slowly.

Slowly getting things done. Still need to figure out my door mechanism, but have pressed on with the overlapping panels, and rivets.
