Rob, you might want to read this publication from the Construction Industry!
http://www.constructionenquirer.com/201 ... ion-sites/
"Drone flights beyond the visual line of sight of the operator (BVLOS) currently require permission from the Civil Aviation Authority and can only occur in specific, restricted cases
New guidelines propose relaxing those rules with construction set to be a major beneficiary.
It will allow long-distance aerial surveys of infrastructure such as power lines or highway construction".

Er am I reading our understanding of the 400foot ruling is being proffered to ourselves but another rule is being proffered elsewhere hoping that we don't become aware of it?? Do I smell a rat?

I believe different rules are already in place for commercial flights?

I don't think so, the aim of the EASA regulations was always to develop a framework for where drones could be used in this way. But it will probably require drones with enhanced technology to be visible to manned aircraft and be able to avoid other aircraft etc.

Just received an email from the CAA with my operator ID.
Time to get sticking my Dymo labels.
All but 2 of my 20+ models will have the labels inside the aircraft - and no tools to get to them!!

If anyone has NOT received an email from the CAA, but they did ask the LMA to register them with the CA, please let me know.

Is the Operator ID the same as the Flyer ID or are they 2 separate numbers? If so Why have I only received a Operator ID?
