use weedeater featherlite 18cc as engine for spitfire

Postby AndyHopwood » August 13th, 2010, 6:28 pm

Hi guys I have an weedeater featherlite petrol trimmer 18cc and the pole is damaged and I kept the engine and thinking possible to convert into a petrol engine for my large spitfire it has a primer bulb the engine runs fine. my questions are is it is acceptable to use it as an engine when it has a primer bulb??

and since it is 18cc has it got enough power for (xmas Build Project) for 2011 year spitfire wingspan 89inch roughly 30-35lbs weight ? I can't work out the weight to power ratio i am too thick! hehe thanks guys :P

18cc is way underpowered for a 89" spit, I would be looking for a 50cc engine.

a .90 4st glow engine is roughtly 15cc but the power delivery is different to a 15cc petrol engine

Agree with Matt here, I had the DB Hurricane at 88" span with a Zenoah 38cc. That was Adequate but no way would I go smaller.
