That looks superb Ian ..... very nice indeed .... one suggestion, to save some money, rather than emptying your Hoover bag into the bin, use the fluffy hovering waste as loft insulation ....... I did this and saved almost £12 .....

Jim, filter out the nutritional bits and you could fatten up the breakfast hamster and save even more. Being a strict vegetarian, I simply fatten and sell on as I don't partake myself.

The pointless but likeable window is now in, complete with its original frame, though I couldn't save the beading. Boarded (most of) the tuther side of the partition and rooted out the intended double doors. These are 1940's jobbies and'll be great once painted again. My delivery of plasterboard didn't arrive today or I'd have boarded a bit more. Picked up the timber for the external doors, hopefully I can find enough old pitch pine here to plane up for boarding them, it'll last a lot better than the modern sh!te you buy today.

Managed a few hours on the den today, taped the edges of the plasterboard, then plastered both me, a wall, a bit of ceiling and an awful lot of the floor, it was too bleeding hot, me a bit mardy and I'm a bit out of practice with this plastering malarky ;D ;D. The new workbench is just about perfect height for a plastering platform and is big enough to allow half the ceiling in one hit, winner!

The last pic is of me pleading to get back into the house ::)

Got one of the big walls plastered this afty, and its the last of the plastering till the external doors are made and fitted. Once these doors are in, the adjacent walls can be finished. Its getting hard to work round stuff thats already found its way into the den!! This flying season is certainly curtailing progress somewhat!

.....The blimmin' thing is in the way too!!!! A nice thing to have in the way though!!! A couple of good mates came round yesterday and helped me organise the chaos and plan the storage end. Space reduces rather quickly we found!

After some amount of hours, the new doors are clamped up and drying. Once dry, the tenons and stuff need lopping off and the draughtstrip grooves / rebates continuing through them need finishing. I'll cut the boards to size tonight hopefully so that the painting department can move in and prime/paint the bits you canny get to once theyre assembled. This highly skilled, fabulous team (ie, the missus and her mum) have been booked in at the weekend while I'm out toy planing it. I've got the upper hand though at the minute since she already has a lot of the doors and windows for her place, including a snazzy two piece door for when she gets an 'oss. NOT!!

Hi Ian,
The doors look quite superb - with your obvious woodworking skills its a wonder that you haven't taken up aeromodeling .
Having just rebuilt 4 very heavy wooden garage doors and replaced a side door might I suggest, if clearance allows, that you add rain drips to the bottom - mine had succumbed to the dreaded rot and not helped by a distinct lack of paint around the edges.They need not be so large to offend English heritage and your local planning authority (our house is also Grade 2 listed) but they now match the other external doors of the property.

Cheers for that Alan, I'll certainly bear it in mind though current thinking is that the concrete floor will be cut back to be under the door, so the run off won't stand. The bottoms of the boards are already cut off at a slight angle. Had to have a look to see if they fit t'ole and to see how they match the old ones now the boarding is on. The doors now just need the tenons sorting etc. Ordered the furniture, need to make the frame, trim up the rough ar5e brickwork on one side and I'm hoping to get them in this weekend.

The painting team sadly let me down and it wasn't till today the doors were given a couple of coats of primer, but I had to do one of them myself Machined up the frame timbers too, they're all primed up ready now too. On the plus side though, Jane's frames and doors were fitted today so more brownie points are in the bank. We also had a few maiden flights here today, mother Pea Hen took her youngsters up to the roof for some flying lessons! Aww bless.

Took the plunge and removed the up and over door, then ripped out the old frame etc. Squared up the hole a bit then fitted the new frame and doors. Lots to do yet, locks, seals, latches etc, but quite pleased to get the guts of it installed , even if I didn't get round to clearing up!!

Managed a good half day in my den today, all battened and boxed in above the door, air line run through with some solid timber mountings for the regulators. Above the door the insulation is all fibreglass so the boxing was built allowing for the thickness of insulation etc. Hopefully get some boards on later ready for a week of evening plastering
