Balsa USA 1/3 scale cub help

Postby Mick Black » March 24th, 2020, 8:49 pm

Hi All
I have been given a crashed 1/3 scale cub. Unfortunately the chap who crashed it threw the smaller bits so piecing together to make a template isn’t possible.
I have tried to get a plan but with no luck. I am hoping someone on here has one who can do some measurements and maybe a pic of the front inside and out. I have the engine bulkhead but between the cab and the bulkhead is missing.
I do have a 1/4 scale cub but it doesn’t seem the same as the bigger cub

http://shop.balsausa.com/product_p/a415.htm Also suggest contacting Steve Thomas, bobs models Orlando, Steve is the agent in the U.S for balsa USA, and would be able to source parts,

Hi Mick,
Try contacting Phil Clark at 'Fighteraces' he has a friend called 'Andy' and I know for certain he has this kit and drawings. I know because I sold it on to him.

Good luck and please let me know how you get on. If that fails then give Tony Parrot a call at Pegasus models Norwich. He is the UK importer for Balsa USA

Thanks again for the replies chaps. Pegasus models doesn’t have a delivery until July and has nothing on stock. I was hoping to repair it while I was stuck at home stuff from good old USA will take a while will try your other ideas.

Dropped steve a message through Facebook, he has already acknowledged, think what you need, cowl, windscreens, former set etc,

Steve’s had a look at the post, he can get any parts you need, but suggests obtaining a plan here,

Hi Allan thanks for the help I can’t seem to find bobs models on internet but I’ll keep trying. I was hoping to rebuild it myself without buying cut wood. Just struggling with what it looks like between the dash panel and the engine bulkhead. I’m only trying to do it now because I’m bored and wanting something to play with. May have to just shelve it until this virus blows over.

Hello MIck,
I have a Balsa USA J3 Cub plan.
I can't scan it as its too big, however I think I could scan the bulkhead former or at least trace round it and scan that, if you still need the information.
There is only the bulkhead former in front of the broken nose section shown in your picture and from the rear of that former to the front of the first vertical glazing bar is 362 mm

Regards
John

Mick,
I've managed to scan the former and can email it to you if you can provide details.

John
